DILL PICKLES

In the bottom each jar put:

2 cloves of garlic (1/2 tsp chopped garlic)

2 tsp dill weed

½1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tsp mustard seed

1/2 jalapeno pepper (optional)

Use whole or sliced cucumbers. Slice cucumbers into 4 slices. Pack as many slices as possible into the jar.

Vinegar Mixture: 2 cups vinegar, 3 cups water, and 2 tablespoons pickling salt.

(This mixture will make about 2 quart jars)

Bring the vinegar mixture to a boil in a pan. Pour it into the packed jars. Put lids on the jars, but not tight.

Put water in a 9 x 13 flat cake pan and bring to a boil. Stand the pickle jars in the cake pan and boil for 20 minutes. Then cool the jars and tighten the lids.
